Physiotherapy

Paediatric Physiotherapists are movement specialists for babies, children and adolescents. It is a clinical area of physiotherapy that aims to improve a child’s movement abilities through the use of methods such as movement training, strengthening, exercise, stretching, intensive therapy programmes, adapted equipment, motor learning and play as well as education.

Occupational & Sensory Integration

Occupational & Sensory Integration

– Occupational therapists help with barriers that affect a person’s emotional, social, and physical needs.
– To do this, they use everyday activities, exercises, and other therapies. OT helps kids play, improves their school performance, and aids their daily activities.

Speech Therapy

– Speech therapy is treatment for problems with speaking, language, and swallowing. It is given by a speech therapist, also called a speech-language pathologist. Speech therapy helps with using the voice properly and using the muscles to make the right sounds. It helps people understand language and express themselves.
– Speech therapy is an intervention service that focuses on improving a child’s speech and abilities to understand and express language, including nonverbal language. Speech therapists, or speech and language pathologists (SLPs), are the professionals who provide these services.

Psychological Assessment Counselling

– Psychological evaluations in children are done for a variety of reasons, for instance when a child has trouble coping at school, issues with attention, behavior complaints or when a child has a medical condition that may affect brain his/her functioning (epilepsy, cancer, brain injury, etc.)
– Psychological assessments help pinpoint difficulties a child may be experiencing in different realms like their social, behavioural, and personality functioning.
– These assessments include a series of structured interviews, standardized tests, and questionnaires designed to understand a child’s strengths and weaknesses and to determine interventions that may benefit the child.
– We at Synapses Child Neurology and Development Centre, provide a broad range of testing services to school-age children and youth.

Special Education

– Special education refers to a range of services that help kids with disabilities learn.
– It’s not a “one size fits all” approach — special education is tailored to meet the needs of individual kids.
– Special education refers to a range of services that can be provided in different ways and in different settings.

ADL Training

– The Activities of Daily Living refer to a series of basic or routine activities performed by individuals on a daily basis in order to take care of ourselves, and assist with independent living at home or in the community.
– Activities of Daily Living, also referred to as Self Care Skills, play a major role in a child’s overall functional growth, confidence and independence.
– These essential skills include the child’s ability to feed themselves using utensils appropriately and to perform toileting, bathing and grooming activities.

Phonic Grammar Program

– Phonics instruction is a way of teaching reading that stresses the acquisition of letter-sound correspondences and their use in reading and spelling.
– Phonics instruction teaches children how to decode letters into their respective sounds, a skill that is essential for them to read unfamiliar words by themselves.

DIR & Floor Time Therapy

– The DIR/Floortime Model claims to promote development by encouraging children to interact with parents and others through play.
– It’s thought that this interaction will help children reach milestones in their emotional development.

Handwriting Improvement

– An occupational therapist can improve your child’s handwriting. The occupational therapist would use a combination of assessment and treatment to address poor handwriting.
– Handwriting is a complex process and is not as simple as people think.
– An occupational therapist can analyse the underlying aspects behind your child’s poor handwriting and offer treatment sessions to improve handwriting.
